International Relations Success Story

City of Indian Rocks Beach From the City of Indian Rocks Beach, Mayor Robert DiNicola reports his city’s international project, a Comprehensive Beach Trolley System for Pinellas County Gulf Beaches. Working with the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, the City of Indian Rocks Beach was instrumental in establishing this service.
Designed to be comparable to transit systems operating at tourist areas in Europe, the trolleys run every 20 minutes. They stop every few blocks to transport tourists to various destinations along the 20-mile length of the barrier island beaches.
Previously, the lack of a convenient public transportation system was the most often cited shortcoming of this area among British and German tourists.
