Did You Know... Venice

Did you know the City of Venice is one of only a few mainland Florida cities situated on the Gulf of Mexico?

Most mainland coastal areas are situated on a bay between the mainland and a barrier island. Sometimes referred to as the "City on the Gulf," Venice has a 3.5-mile stretch of sandy beach directly on the Gulf of Mexico. The city also was the last location built on the Intracoastal Waterway connecting the route from east Texas to Marathon, Fla., to Canada.
