Did you know the City of Sweetwater was known as the "midget community"?
In the late 1930s, a troupe of Russian midgets sought a place to retire from the circus. They purchased land in the "Sweetwater Groves" development and built several mini-scaled homes suited to their needs. The city was incorporated in 1941 with the midgets' guardian and manager as the first mayor.
