Did You Know... Plant City

Did you know the City of Plant City is the "Winter Strawberry Capital of the World"?

Plant City, named for railroad entrepreneur Henry Plant, produces more than three-quarters of the nation's mid-winter strawberries. Plant City also grows the majority of Florida's strawberries during a growing season that begins in November and lasts until early spring. In 1930, the local Lions Club created the Florida Strawberry Festival to celebrate this continuously successful crop. The annual event is held in late February to early March and lasts 11 days, drawing approximately 750,000 plus visitors each year.
