Did you know the City of Cape Coral has more miles of canals than Venice, Italy?
Built by the Rosen brothers approximately 40 years ago, the City of Cape Coral is 115 square miles and contains more than 400 miles of canals. Surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, the Caloosahatchee River and the Matlacha Pass, Cape Coral geographically is the third largest city in Florida. Nearly 295 miles of the city's canals are freshwater with the remaining 105 miles considered brackish. Cape Coral has an extensive stormwater management system as well as one of the largest residential reuse systems for wastewater in the United States.
