Representative Matt Meadows Honored with 2008 Legislative Appreciation Award

Florida League of Cities recognizes Representative Meadows as a recipient of its Legislative Appreciation Award for 2008

The Florida League of Cities honored Rep. Matt Meadows with a Legislative Appreciation Award in his local district yesterday. He is one of only seven legislators to receive this award.
This prestigious award was presented to Rep. Meadows for his tireless efforts during the 2008 legislative session on behalf of Florida’s cities. The award was presented at a meeting of the Broward County League of Cities held in Plantation, Fla.
Rep. Meadows brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his legislative duties and played a critical role on the Urban and Local Affairs Committee on all municipal issues. He also played an important role in tax and revenue related proposals and served on the important Policy and Budget Council – among other committees. He is a powerful voice for his constituents and is a tireless champion for the people he represents in District 94.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from the Florida League of Cities,” says Rep. Meadows. “Having been a former Lauderhill city commissioner, I understand the difficult decisions that city officials must make everyday. It is imperative that the Legislature work with local government to meet the needs of citizens throughout this great state.” Rep. Meadows also was a state Senator from 1992-1998.
Rep. Meadows has served his community in a number of ways – such as working on non-profit boards and spearheading a variety of community and civic initiatives. Among other recognitions, during his career, Rep. Meadows has been awarded the 2006 Champion for Business, the Florida State University Public Service Award and the 2007 Legislator of the Year by the Florida Building Material Association.
Rep. Meadows lives in Lauderhill with his wife, Charley; they have six children.
The Florida League of Cities was founded in 1922; established to meet and serve the needs of municipal officials throughout the state. Among its primary functions is to develop a municipal legislative platform and lobby the state Legislature and Congress on a variety of issues important to Florida’s 412 city governments.
