Finalists for 2008 Florida Cities of Excellence Awards Announced

Winners to be announced at awards program hosted by the Florida League of Cities

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida League of Cities announced finalists for its fifth annual Florida Cities of Excellence Awards – an awards program designed to highlight the wonderful and innovative services cities provide to improve the quality of life in Florida and to honor dedicated city leaders and cities for their excellence in public service.
“The finalists in these categories provide exemplary service for their cities and should be applauded for this extraordinary accomplishment,” said Carmine Priore, Florida League of Cities president and Wellington vice mayor. “It is an honor to salute these outstanding nominees in this celebration of dedication, innovation and public service.”
Finalists in the ten categories include:

All finalists are invited to attend the awards luncheon on November 21, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport, where all winners will be announced. Winners will receive a “MUNI” award and later be featured in the League’s award-winning publication, Quality Cities.
Requirements included a complete narrative essay and supportive information for the specific category — such as newspaper clippings, photos, letters from constituents, etc.
