Welcome to Insurance
Services (FMIT)
The Florida League of Cities established its' first insurance program in
1977 to provide workers' compensation coverage to governmental entities.
Liability, Property and Health programs followed shortly thereafter.
At inception, all insurance programs operated independently
of each other and services were contracted to a third party administrator.
In 1987, the League opened their Public Risk Services office to administer
the programs in house. Subsequently, for matters of efficiency and cohesion,
the insurance programs were consolidated under the name of the Florida
Municipal Insurance Trust.
