Hurricane Wilma Assistance The Florida League of Cities is available to distribute and disseminate requests for assistance, and information about the availability of resources, from or to any city affected by Hurricane Wilma. If your city needs technical assistance, equipment, personnel or other resources, contact Sharon Berrian at the League office, (850) 222-9684, ext. 143.
Gov. Bush Announces Emergency "Bridge Loans" Available for Small Businesses Severely Impacted by Wilma On Wednesday, November 2, 2005, Gov. Jeb Bush activated Florida's Small Business Emergency "Bridge Loan" Program to provide emergency, short-term loans to businesses in counties severely impacted by Hurricane Wilma. Applications will be available by Friday, November 4, in Broward, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach counties and the Glades communities of Belle Glade, Pahokee, and South Bay. Hurricane Katrina Information Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast Region - taking lives, displacing residents and causing mass destruction of property. The Florida League of Cities is working with the National League of Cities and the affected state municipal leagues to develop a partnership program designed specifically to help cities that need assistance. Disaster Relief Financing In response to demand from local governments in need of disaster relief financing, the Florida League of Cities and Bank of America have joined together to offer cities and counties a low-cost and efficient way to meet current obligations prior to FEMA reimbursement.
