Welcome to the official Web site of
the Florida League of Cities

President Frank C. Ortis
Mayor, Pembroke Pines

This site is designed to provide Florida’s municipal officials and other visitors with the latest information on League services, programs, publications and events. You can also access select state and federal agencies, as well as Florida cities from this site.

City officials who wished to unite the municipal governments in Florida for the purpose of shaping legislation, sharing the advantages of cooperative action, and exchanging ideas and experiences established the League in 1922. From a modest beginning of just a few cities and towns, the Florida League of Cities has grown throughout the years to include nearly all of Florida’s 412 municipalities as members.

A 54-member Board of Directors, comprised of elected municipal officials, governs the League, which is headquartered in Tallahassee. The Public Risk Services and Technology Services Departments are located in Orlando.

The League is proud to have provided 85 years of service to Florida’s municipal officials, and will continue to support Local Self-Government: The Keystone of American Democracy!

This year, my priority is to assist Florida's cities in becoming "Green Local Governments" by adopting and implementing environmental stewardship practices that conserve energy and protect natural resources for future generations. It would be my desire that all 412 cities in Florida embrace this as a priority for their city.

I encourage cities to adopt a resolution supporting the Green Local Government Standard and pursue steps toward becoming a Florida Green Local Government. Additional information also can be found via the Green Building Coalition, Inc.
