County or regionalized local leagues, developed by city officials to resolve localized municipal issues, cover a majority of the state. In some instances, regional leagues serve as “umbrella” organizations for local county leagues of cities.
Local leagues have an independent affiliation with the Florida League of Cities, although some receive financial support from the state League for administrative purposes. Some develop, analyze and participate in advocacy issues on a statewide basis and others prefer to limit their services to local city/county concerns.
The local and regional leagues also provide an excellent base for developing and assisting the state League on issues relating to urban policy and administration on a statewide basis.
