FLC Annual Conference
The Florida League of Cities annual conference is held each August in various locations throughout the state. More than 1,000 city officials from across Florida attend this meeting to share ideas, attend educational workshops and sessions, discuss strategies for Florida’s future, determine League policies, and visit the Municipal Marketplace. The 82nd Florida League of Cities Annual Conference was held August 14 - 16, 2008, at the Tampa Convention Center and Tampa Marriott Waterside. Available materials from 2008 conference workshops may be downloaded. Digital audio recordings of workshops held on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16 as well as the Opening General Session, Second General Session and Past Presidents' Luncheon are available for purchase. Exhibits
During the annual conference, a Municipal Marketplace featuring more than 75 companies showcases the latest in products and services for municipal governments. Companies that are well established in the municipal arena and companies that want to branch out into the market take part in the show. FLC Legislative Conference
The League’s Legislative Conference is held each November. During this meeting, the League’s Legislative Policy Statement is approved by the membership. The policy statement, the work product of the League’s five legislative policy committees, directs the League’s lobbying efforts for the upcoming Florida legislative session. Keynote speakers are also on hand to provide their perspective on the key municipal issues and the state’s political climate.

FLC Legislative Action Day
Every year during session, League members spend a day in Tallahassee to hear from legislators and League staff on what the legislative session holds for municipalities. Following the meeting, delegates go to the Capitol to meet with their legislators one-on-one and to let them know what issues are important to the League and their cities. This is a valuable opportunity for members to get to know their legislators, and to view the Legislature at work first hand. The date of this conference varies year to year, depending on session schedules.

Legislative Issues and Advocacy Training
The Florida League of Cities holds legislative issues and advocacy training seminars which provide extensive training on the League's Legislative Action Agenda. The seminars also provide the tools that municipal officials need to effectively communicate these key legislative issues with their House and Senate members. The seminars are held several times throughout the state. All municipal officials are invited to participate. Click here to contact the League's Legislative Department.

Institute for Community Housing (ICH)
The Florida League of Cities Institute for Community Housing Program is a series of eight separate full day educational seminars, facilitated by national and state housing experts. Member city and county elected officials and their housing staff may attend any or all of the seminars. Each seminar will be divided into a half-day of instruction through presentations and the remainder of the day focusing on practical applications and usage of the information introduced during the instructional portion of the day. Cities and counties who attend all seminars can expect to have the ability to cultivate successful solutions to their affordable community housing needs. Click here for more information.
Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (IEMO)
The Florida League of Cities and the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government have developed the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials. The primary objective of the Institute is to provide elected municipal officials with an intensive academic program that will assist them in effectively meeting the requirements of their elected role. The program offers a comprehensive overview of Florida municipal government, presented by a faculty of top professionals in the field. Started in 1992, the IEMO program has graduated more than 1,700 municipal officials.
The Institute is a three-day program structured in a Friday through Sunday format. The goal is to make the program as accessible as possible. Therefore, the Institute is being offered at various locations throughout the state. Advanced Institute for Elected Municipal Officials
The Florida League of Cities and the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government have developed the Advanced Institute, designed as a continuation of the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (IEMO). The Advanced Institute is reserved for participants and graduates of the IEMO, or those elected city officials who have completed one or more terms in office. Designed to pick up where the IEMO leaves off, this two-day program features four classes and two workshop-style lunches.

Citizen Advisory Board Training
The Florida League of Cities, the Florida Conflict Resolution Consortium (CRC) and the Florida Institute of Government present training sessions throughout the year on building Successful Citizen Advisory Boards and Committees. These workshops focus on how to resolve conflicts and build relationships among and with advisory board members, citizens and elected officials. Participants will learn to channel conflict into constructive cooperation; solve seemingly impossible problems; save city dollars; build public, private and political support; and utilize citizen volunteer time productively. Productive citizen boards and committees can provide the insight and energy essential for creating better communities. They help make important decisions, bring expertise and resources needed to address problems, and provide a valuable link to public and private groups and the electorate. Elected officials, administrators and other leaders who want their citizen boards and commitees to be more productive are encouraged to attend.
