<p>Autonomous Vehicle (Watch)</p><p> HB 353 (Fischer) and SB 712 (Brandes) would allow a person to operate an autonomous vehicle in autonomous mode on all roads in this state, without requiring the person to be physically present in the vehicle. The bill specifies that autonomous vehicles registered in Florida must meet federal applicable standards and regulations, regardless of whether a human operator is physically present in the vehicle. </p><p></p><p> In addition, the bill requires the vehicle is to have a safety system to alert the driver when autonomous technology failure is detected while in autonomous mode. When the alert is given, the system must be capable of bringing the vehicle to a complete stop or allow the driver to regain control.
